From 4 – 5 May 2023, members of the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network from Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam with the Co-Chair of The Global Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture (GACSA) attended the Annual Forum of GACSA in Rome, Italy, to contribute views on heightened engagement on climate action in agriculture with other regional alliances around the world.
The 2023 Annual Forum concept was framed around GACSA’s cross-cutting themes of youth, women and finance, emphasizing the central role of farmers. In addition, the Annual Forum also put a special focus on showcasing the new activity proposals, giving the opportunity to all GACSA members to be more involved with the Alliance. Therefore, the event served a ground for activity showcase related to increasing agricultural productivity in sustainable ways that are resilient to climate impacts, enhancing social protection that builds productive assets, and reducing inequalities in food access, among other things.
As countries are updating their Nationally Determined Contributions, the gathering offered an opportune moment to involve all key stakeholders to discuss ways to accelerate how to transform food systems in the context of climate change.
