The Insight Brief series aims to raise awareness of the mitigation and adaptation potential of selected climate-smart land use practices and approaches in order to contribute to their application in Southeast Asia and enhance the exchange of technical knowledge among ASEAN Member States (AMS). It is targeted at policymakers and practitioners in the Southeast Asia region and covers the following topics:
- Integrated Agriculture-Aquaculture Systems
- Alternate Wetting and Drying
- Climate Information Services
- Forest Landscape Restoration
- Silvopastoral Systems
- Sustainable Soil Management
- Gender Mainstreaming, Equity and Inclusion (TBC)
Each paper includes a summary of currently available information on the climate change mitigation and adaption potentials of the respective approaches and reflects on issues of equity and inclusion during their implementation. Every Insight Brief concludes with recommendations for policymakers, donors, and project implementers and for further research.
The papers will be published successively between May and September 2021, each in a full version and a ‘digest version’ to introduce the topic in a brief format.
This Insight Brief is part of a series prepared by the Stockholm Environment Institute on behalf of the Climate-Smart Land Use (CSLU) in ASEAN project, which receives funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN).
