This study aims to draw lessons learned from the National Agricultural Insurance Pilot Program of Vietnam through reviewing the development of agriculture insurance in Vietnam, discussing the achievements and shortcomings, and quantitatively evaluating its impacts on the livelihoods of farmers. Actionable recommendations for policy makers in Vietnam and other ASEAN countries are given with the goal of promoting agriculture insurance and improving its effectiveness and efficiency.
