The ASEAN Technical Working Group on Agricultural Research and Development (ATWGARD) initiated a project on the Promotion of Climate Resilience in Rice and Other Crops. This initiative led by Thailand, developed into the formation of the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN) in 2014, which addressed the need for regional cooperation on agriculture and food security in facing climate change.
The objective of ASEAN-CRN is to ensure that ASEAN member states are in a better position for adapting their agricultural sector to climate change and optimize its mitigation potential.
Since its establishment, ASEAN-CRN actively engages with relevant projects in the region. It is a member of the Global Alliance for Climate Smart Agriculture (GACSA) and the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN).
